Welcome warmly to Jasmine Rae Bakery. I am a native San Franciscan, an artist working in the medium of cake and sugar. My creations are intended to be ceremoniously carved and eaten! As an artist who works with cake, I’ve come to reconcile the relationship my pieces have to time. My works must be fabricated quickly (for fresh deliciousness), and will only last in their completed form for a short amount of time--generally one day--before assuming the final form of plated slices of cake.
I design a cake with it’s fate in mind, cutting thin layers that look abundant and well-proportioned in slice form. I consider that the disassembly should allow you to leave the most important part so that you can “have” your cake as long as possible while eating it too.
